چکیده

The generation of short pulses of ion beams through the interaction of an intense laser with a plasma sheath offers the possibility of compact and cheaper ion sources for many applications; from fast ignition and radiography of dense targets to hadron therapy and injection into conventional accelerators. To enable the efficient analysis of large-scale, high-fidelity particle accelerator simulations using the Warp simulation suite, we introduce the Warp In situ Visualization Toolkit (WarpIV). WarpIV integrates state-of-the-art in situ visualization and analysis using VisIt with Warp, supports management and control of complex in situ visualization and analysis workflows, and implements integrated analytics to facilitate query and feature-based data analytics and efficient large-scale data analysis. WarpIV enables for the first time distributed parallel, in situ visualization of the full simulation data using highperformance compute resources as the data is being generated by Warp. We describe the application of WarpIV to study and compare large 2D and 3D ion accelerator simulations, demonstrating significant differences in the acceleration process in 2D and 3D simulations. WarpIV is available to the public via https://bitbucket.org/berkeleylab/warpiv . In situ activation of a Ni catalyst with Mo ion for hydrogen evolution reaction in alkaline solution

In this study Ni catalyst have been activated during hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) by adding Mo ions into the alkaline electrolyte. After dissolving different amounts of ammonium molybdate in the 1M NaOH as electrolyte, Ni catalyst was used as cathode for HER. Afterwards a comparison between hydrogen overpotential measured in Ni catalyst with and without in situ activation has been made; th...

Shielding simulations for safe use of curtain electron accelerator by MCNP4C

In an electron curtain accelerator, when the electron beam passes through the titanium exit window of the accelerator chamber, X-ray photons are produced as a negative by-product of retarding accelerated electrons. Controlling the produced X-ray photons to avoid their detrimental effects or in fact, proper shielding of the accelerator is an important issue that has to be considered in the use o...

Visualization of output from Large-Scale Brain Simulations

This project concerned the development of tools for visualization of output from brain simulations performed on supercomputers. The project had two main parts: 1) creating visualizations using large-scale simulation output from existing neural simulation codes, and 2) making extensions to some of the existing codes to allow interactive runtime (in-situ) visualization. In 1) simulation data was ...

Visualization of Particle Beam Simulations in the IFMIF-EVEDA Accelerator

Using the SDvision 3D visualization software developed within the framework of IDL Object Graphics at CEA/IRFU, we have visualized the travel of charged particles in the IFMIFEVEDA accelerator. Simulations visualized here were made for a beam composed of 1 million macroparticles. To ensure that beam losses do not exceed 1W/m in the high energy part, simulations with 4,000,000,000 particles were...

First mesospheric in-situ measurement in Iran using sounding rockets and plasma impedance probe (PIP)

This paper reports on the progress for the first development of rocket probe for in-situ measurement of ionospheric plasma parameters in Iran. The designed probe known as Plasma Impedance Probe (PIP) will be used to measure the electron density, electron-neutral collision frequency, background magnetic field, and temperature in the mesospheric and in the altitude range of 70 km to 150 km. This ...
